Mallorca beaches at a glance
This is an editorial selection of 12 beaches and coves, not an official ranking. It mixes long sandy beaches with services, protected natural areas and coves that take some walking. Lengths are approximate figures from the regional tourism listings and do not tell you how much sand is free on a given day.
Access is the part that decides most beach days. Some coves have a car park a long walk away, some natural parks have their own rules, and some roads are regulated in summer. The entries below say which is which. Rental prices for sunbeds, lifeguard hours and daily flags change by beach and season, so look at the beach when you arrive.

12 Best Beaches and Coves in Majorca
In no ranked order. Parking charges and services are not fixed, so treat them as a guide.
1. Es Trenc
A beach in the Es Trenc and Salobrar de Campos nature park. The park is open to everyone, and the dune, dog and anchoring rules apply. Parking is charged separately by the car parks. Everything you need is on the Es Trenc page.
2. Caló des Moro
A small cove in Santanyí. The tourism listing places the car park about 1 km away, near the houses of Sa Comuna, followed by a walk to the water. Plan for the walk and carry what you need. This is the Mallorca cove, not the beach of the same name on Ibiza.
3. Cala Mondragó
Part of the Mondragó nature park in Santanyí, reached from ses Fonts de n'Alis and s'Amarador. The information point next to the ses Fonts de n'Alis car park is open 09:00–16:00 except some holidays. Five signed routes take roughly 15 to 60 minutes. No fires, dogs on a lead and not on the beach, no drones, and use only the approved car parks. A seasonal bus, line 521, runs from Cala d'Or and Portopetro to Cala Mondragó.
4. Cala Varques
A sandy cove of about 90 m in the municipality of Manacor. You arrive by boat or on foot, and the tourism listing gives about 4 km of walking from the road access. Wear proper shoes and bring water and food. Do not park on the access track or along the road between Porto Cristo and Portocolom, and do not climb over private gates.
5. Cala Agulla
About 600 m of sand and rock backed by pines, in Capdepera next to Cala Ratjada. It is protected together with Cala Moltó and Cala Mesquida. A signed turn-off leads to a paid car park. Lifeguards and sunbed hire are named for the summer. See also Cala Ratjada.
6. Son Moll
A sandy beach in Cala Ratjada, about 150 m long and over 50 m wide, with a promenade, services and rocky edges. It is a village beach, not a remote one. Parking is possible around it, and no free reserved car park is promised.
7. Playa de Muro
The Playa de Muro beach has around 5.2 km of mostly sand, split into Sector I, Sector II, Es Comú and Es Capellans. Es Comú is described as natural and protected, while other sectors have tourist services. Parking is in the surrounding area, and there is no single beach car park charge. The airport bus line A32 to Can Picafort passes Alcúdia and Playa de Muro, but check the current timetable.
8. Cala Mesquida
A sandy beach of about 300 m with dunes near Capdepera, part of the same protected area as Cala Agulla. The public car park is about 200 m away. Lifeguards, sunbeds and food are listed, in season. It is not the Sa Mesquida of Menorca.
9. Playa de Formentor
Also called Cala Pi de sa Posada, with pines behind the sand and a small jetty. A paid car park lies about 400 m from the beach. The Ma-2210 road from Port de Pollença is regulated in summer: in 2026 the rules ran from 15 May to 18 October, 10:00–22:00, and the beach stretch (km 2 to 8.7) has a limited number of authorised parking spaces. In summer boats are also listed from Port de Pollença and Port d'Alcúdia. Read Cap de Formentor before you drive.
10. Cala Pi
A cove in the municipality of Llucmajor, reached by steps from the housing area above the cliffs. The tourism listing mentions a free car park without promising space, and old boat sheds along one side. It is not the same as Cala Pi de sa Posada at Formentor.
11. Cala Deià
A pebble and coarse sand cove of roughly 70 m by 6 m. From the village it is about 1.5 km on foot. The official page names parking by the cove but gives no current fee, and you cannot count on driving right up to the cove. It is not a sandy beach like Son Moll. More on the village in Valldemossa and Deià.
12. Platja de Sant Pere
About 100 m of sand with rocky edges at Es Mal Pas in Alcúdia, near Bonaire, facing the Bay of Pollença. In summer lifeguards, showers, a beach bar and sunbed hire are listed. For the nearby old town see Alcúdia.

Choosing by coast
Choosing a Majorca beach
A Majorca beach falls into one of three types. Son Moll and the sectors of Playa de Muro have services, Es Trenc, Cala Mondragó and Es Comú are protected natural areas, and Mallorca coves such as Caló des Moro, Cala Varques and Cala Deià take a walk. An Alcúdia beach in Mallorca usually means Playa de Muro or Platja de Sant Pere at Es Mal Pas.
The island is large, so pick a coast and stay there for the day instead of crossing the island for one beach.
- South and south east: Es Trenc, Cala Pi, Caló des Moro, Cala Mondragó and Cala Varques. Expect parking and walking, and in the nature parks, rules.
- North east: Cala Agulla, Son Moll and Cala Mesquida around Cala Ratjada.
- North: Playa de Muro, Platja de Sant Pere and Playa de Formentor around Alcúdia and Port de Pollença.
- West: Cala Deià below the village, about 1.5 km on foot.
