Cala Ratjada at a glance

Cala Ratjada is a town on the north east coast of Mallorca, in the municipality of Capdepera. It combines a working harbour, a village beach with a promenade and two quieter beaches a short way along the coast. The beaches have different characters, so the first decision is which one you want.

Son Moll is the beach in the town itself. Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida lie in protected natural areas nearby. There is no airport in Cala Ratjada, and the island's main airport is at Palma. Check the current bus or taxi options and journey times before you travel.

Son Moll: the beach in town

Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida

Two beaches in protected natural areas.

Cala Agulla

About 600 m of sand and rock with pines behind it. It is protected together with Cala Moltó and Cala Mesquida. A signed turn-off near Cala Ratjada leads to a paid car park. Lifeguards and sunbed and umbrella hire are named for the summer.

Cala Mesquida

About 300 m of sand and dunes. The public car park is about 200 m from the beach. The tourism listing names lifeguards, sunbeds and food, in season. It is not the Sa Mesquida on Menorca.

Staying on the paths

Both lie in a protected area, so use the car parks and marked paths and take your rubbish with you. A fuller list of the island's beaches is on the beaches page.

The harbour and boat trips

Boats leave from the harbour at Cala Ratjada. A local operator, Cala Ratjada Express, lists excursions to Cala Millor and Cala Bona and coastal and swim trips. Its departure menu shows times such as 10:30, 12:00 and 15:00, depending on the product. Without a date and season selected you cannot assume a daily trip, so check the date before you plan around one.

Activities in Cala Ratjada
