Valldemossa at a glance
Valldemossa lies in a mountain valley in the Serra de Tramuntana, with terraced slopes around it. Its main sight is the Charterhouse (Cartoixa de Valldemossa), a former monastery you can visit with a ticket. The rest of the village is for walking: narrow lanes, stone houses and small squares.
Most visitors come for half a day or a full day. You can reach Valldemossa by car, by TIB bus line 203 from Palma, or on a guided tour. The same bus line continues to Deià, Sóller and Port de Sóller, so the village also fits into a longer route along the mountains.

Valldemossa, Deià and Tramuntana tours
Day trips that take in Valldemossa, mountain villages and the Tramuntana coast, with live prices and availability.
How to get to Valldemossa
TIB bus line 203 runs from Palma through Valldemossa and Deià to Sóller and Port de Sóller. Since 1 March 2026 there is an extra departure from Palma to Valldemossa at 07:15. The full daily timetable changes, so check the current plan for your date.
A limited pilot in 2026 lets holders of the Tarjeta Única or Intermodal card reserve a seat on the 15:00 departure from Port de Sóller on line 203, 48 hours to 7 days ahead. This is a pilot for one departure, not a general rule for the whole line.
If you pay with a bank card on the TIB bus, validate the same card or device when you board and when you get off. A missing second tap costs €0.30 per person extra, and up to five people can travel on one card. Trips with the Tarjeta Única or Intermodal card are free in 2026, but there is no general free pass for tourists.
If you drive, check parking in the village on the day, as fees and rules are set locally. If you start from Palma by car, read our Palma guide first, because the city has a low-emission zone. For a mountain journey by taxi, the 2025 Palma taxi tariff adds a surcharge for routes such as Deià via Sóller (€4.26).

Deià and Cala Deià
Deià is a smaller village on the same bus line 203, set among olive terraces and lemon trees on the mountain slope. It is a short stop on the way between Valldemossa and Sóller, or a base in the Tramuntana.
From the village it is about 1.5 km on foot to Cala Deià. This is a cove of stones and coarse sand, around 70 m long and 6 m wide, so it is not a sandy beach. Bring shoes you can walk on stones in. The official tourism page mentions parking by the cove, but without a current tariff and without a promise that you can drive down at any time.
Not every place to stay in Deià is next to the water. See our where to stay page for the areas, and Mallorca beaches if you want a wider sandy choice.

The rest of the Valldemossa town centre is for walking through narrow lanes, past stone houses and small squares.
Valldemossa to Deià, Sóller and Palma by bus
