Caves of Drach at a glance

The Cuevas del Drach (Caves of the Dragon) lie on the east coast, at Porto Cristo. You see them on a timed visit of about one hour, in a group and without a guide. The route leads past stalactites and stalagmites to the Lago Martel, an underground lake. A live concert is part of the visit, and you can cross the lake by boat or on foot.

The ticket price already includes the cave visit, the concert and the lake crossing. There is no separate charge for the music or the boat. Inside, the temperature stays between 17 and 21 °C all year, so a light jacket is enough even in August.

Stalactites in the Cuevas del Drach

What the visit is like

The visit follows a set route through the caves, past stalactites and stalagmites. It is a group visit without a guide, so you move at the pace of the group. The Lago Martel is the centrepiece: the live concert is part of the visit, and you can cross the lake by boat or on foot.

Arrive about 15 minutes before your slot. From the car park it is around 200 m on foot to the entrance. According to the operator, rain does not affect regular visits underground. In a storm, still check the road and any official warnings before you set out.

Getting to the Caves of Drach

The Cuevas del Drach in Porto Cristo have the address Ctra. Cuevas s/n. Porto Cristo is a small harbour town on the east coast, and boat trips leave from its port. By car, follow the signs to Cuevas del Drach and use the car park near the entrance. By public transport, check the current timetable of the island bus network before you go, because routes and frequencies change by season. In 2026 a seasonal line from Cala Ratjada to Porto Cristo is listed, see our Cala Ratjada guide.

If you travel from Palma without a car, plan the day around the bus times or consider one of the Cuevas del Drach tours with transport, such as the coach tour listed above. Our overview of day trips on Mallorca compares the options, and the where to stay guide explains how to reach each area.
